1952 Marx, No. 7010 Tom Corbett Space Academy Playset in Original Box

1952 Marx, No. 7010 Tom Corbett Space Academy Playset in Original Box

This set was the earliest version of the Official Tom Corbett Space Academy Set by Marx manufactured over 60 years ago. It's in pristine condition and grades EXC+ to NM.

However, it comes in probably the highest grade box I've seen for this set. Near mint .... maybe a little higher. Also included are all five original parts bags, instructions, inserts, and even the saucer rubber band installation note (which I've never seen before). It has its full original compliment of 15 transparent plastic helmets and 10 yellow plastic cannon shells. And although unusable, the original rubber band underneath the saucer launcher is still in place.

To insure completeness the set was inventoried according to the parts checklist provided in "Plastic Figure & Playset Collector" magazine, February, 1994, issue 29, pgs. 9-26. It is complete.

Based on the appearance of the metal building tabs the Academy building had been assembled. Fortunately all tabs are in place.

Packaging: The container box was printed and illustrated with an accurate representation on the cover. The original No. 7010 catalog number was stamped on the right endflap. Interestingly, the five piece insert was factory cut from a second Tom Corbett playset box. The instruction sheet is double sided with both schematics and text. There's also a small single page note instructing reuse of the pom pom cannon rubber band for the satellite launcher. And lastly, there are all five original brown paper bags without text.

Size: Box 14" x 22"  x 5". Weight approx. 6lbs.
